Preliminary results from Afghanistan’s national elections have been announced, with incumbent President Hamid Karzai appearing to have garnered 41 per cent of the vote so far.
Dr Abdullah Abdullah, Karzai’s main rival who has presented what he says is evidence of fraud, trails closely behind with 39 per cent.
But election officials say results may change, with any final announcement coming after allegations are investigated. Al Jazeera’s Zeina Khodr reports from Kabul.
