Bayern turn the tables to reach Champions League semis

Sensational Bayern Munich destroyed Porto 6-1 to charge into the Champions League semi-finals 7-4 on aggregate and stay on track for a treble in Pep Guardiola’s 100th competitive game in charge.

The five-time European champions, who lost 3-1 in the first leg last week, showed no sign of nerves as they dismantled the hapless Portuguese with an impressive attacking display to book a fourth straight last four spot.

Bayern scored three times in 13 minutes through Thiago Alcantara, Jerome Boateng and Robert Lewandowski, to wipe out their quarter-final, first leg deficit.

Two more goals before the break from Lewandowski and Thomas Mueller, who became Germany’s record scorer in the competition with 27, and a late Xabi Alonso free-kick finished off Porto, who had Ivan Marcano sent off in the 87th for a second booking.

Barcelona sail through

Elsewhere, Neymar scored two goals as Barcelona beat PSG 2-0 to seal its return to the semi-finals, joining Europe’s elite four teams for the seventh time in eight seasons.

Neymar had already netted Barcelona’s first goal in its 3-1 first-leg win, and the Brazil striker struck in the 14th and 34th minutes to crush PSG’s already-slim hopes of a quarterfinal comeback.

Barcelona’s dominance of was so complete that despite Neymar’s brace Andres Iniesta was arguably the best player on the Camp Nou pitch. The veteran midfielder used a breathtaking solo run through the heart of the visitors’ defense to set up Neymar for the opener.

Neymar then took advantage of PSG’s lax marking to head home his second goal from Dani Alves’ cross.
