Ottawa right-winger Mark Stone scored twice and goal-tender Andrew Hammond stopped 34 shots as the Senators beat the Philadelphia Flyers 3-1 and clinched a spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Centre Jean-Gabriel Pageau added a goal as Ottawa completed their improbable run to the playoffs, clinching a spot on the season’s final day.

Elsewhere, Centre Brandon Sutter scored twice as Pittsburgh qualified for the post-season for the ninth consecutive year with a 2-0 win over the Sabres.

Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury made 28 saves for his 10th shutout of the season.

Centre David Desharnais scored the decisive goal in a shootout as the Canadiens clinched first place in the Atlantic Division following a 4-3 win over the Maple Leafs.

The Canadiens entered the game needing only one point or a loss by the Tampa Bay Lightning to secure the division title.
