Fans fund Eibar’s $2.5m requirement
Eibar will be rubbing shoulders with Real Madrid and Barcelona but not before its fans were asked to chip in.

The new Spanish league season gets underway on Saturday and will feature a team playing in the top flight for the first time in 74 years.
Fourteen months ago, Eibar were playing in the Spanish third division but now they are planning to face Real Madrid and Barcelona in La Liga.
But as Matt Rumsey reports, it took some fan fundraising to get them there as they didn’t have the required $2.5m in the bank to be able to compete in the Spanish league.
