Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen hopes to turn his luck around in the remainder of the season after managing just 18 points in the first seven races.

Raikkonen finished 10th at the Canadian Grand Prix last week after an unsual spin at Turn 10.

“We had some new small problems during the race with the brakes,” he said after the Canadian Grand Prix. “There just seems to be always something happening and my spin didn’t help, but I wasn’t expecting to get so much power.

“Everything seems to be against us right now, but there are times when it feels okay and we have to find a way to keep that feeling all the time and make sure that’s how it stays. I think this race was difficult for us, but we knew that before with the layout and we are a bit weaker than we want to be, so hopefully at the next circuits we will be a bit better.”

Massa rues pit-stop

Meanwhile, Williams’ Felipe Massa said he could have won the race had it not been for a slow pit-stop. The Brazillian dropped from fifth to 11th after the first pit-stop as the team struggled to fit his front left tyre.

“Honestly, I was the quickest car on the track most of the time,” he said. “Not with the supersoft – on that tyre I had a similar pace to Valtteri [Bottas] – but with the prime the car was amazing, really, really quick.

“Without this problem in the pit-stop, I think it was totally possible to be in front of [race winner Daniel] Ricciardo.”
