Ronaldo returns to Lisbon for showdown

Real Madrid hope that Cristiano Ronaldo will lead them to their tenth Champions League title in his homecoming match.

Portugal’s most famous son has just come home. Cristiano Ronaldo is in Lisbon for Real Madrid’s Champions League final game against Atletico Madrid.

Ronaldo was paid the equivalent of 12 dollars a game as a ball boy at the Sporting Lisbon stadium, before joining the club’s academy as an 11-year-old.

Today he receives and estimated 45 million dollars a year and every young player in this city aims to be the next Ronaldo.
