Asia Cup cricket uniting Bangladesh

Bangladesh was torn apart by violence last year and its chances of hosting two major cricket events looked slim.

South Asia’s biggest cricket tournament, the Asia Cup, is underway in Bangladesh.

However, a year of violence and protest in the country looked set to take away this event, as well as the 2014 World Twenty20 that starts next month, from the country.

Five nations fight for cricketing supremacy in the Asia Cup and, as Maher Sattar reports from Dhaka, cricket provides a tonic and remedy from the atrocities witnessed on the streets just a few weeks ago.
