Care try seals brutal England win
England come from behind to beat Ireland 13-10, whilst a late drop-goal seals a dramatic 21-20 win for Scotland.
England edged Ireland 13-10 in a test of breathless intensity at Twickenham to open up the Six Nations into a four-team race at the halfway point.
Ireland was the last unbeaten side in the championship after France fell to Wales on Friday, and was favoured to end a three-match losing run to England with a side with more than twice as many caps and rampant momentum.
But England overturned a 10-3 deficit with half an hour to go to sit tied in the standings with Ireland, Wales and France.
Earlier in the day a last-gasp drop goal from Duncan Weir lifted Scotland to a dramatic 21-20 win over Italy in the Six Nations.
Scotland’s first win
Centre Alex Dunbar scored two second-half tries for Scotland who fought back from 13-3 down at the interval to secure their first win of the tournament and relieve the pressure on under-fire coach Scott Johnson.
Italy’s Tommaso Allan contributed 13 points in the first half and Joshua Furno crossed for a try 10 minutes from time to put the Italians 20-18 ahead.
But the Scotland forwards set up a solid attacking position and with seconds remaining Weir slotted over a drop goal to send the thousands of Scottish fans in Rome wild.
