Hickey seals NY Islanders’ late win

Defenceman scores with under two minutes to go in win over Ottawa; Carolina stop Nashville’s four-game winning streak.

Defenceman Thomas Hickey scored with 1:54 left in overtime as the New York Islanders continued their winning ways with a 3-2 victory over Ottawa at Nassau Coliseum.

Hickey’s wraparound ticked off the skate of Senators defenseman Cody Cedi and trickled past goalie Craig Anderson as the Islanders completed their eighth overtime win of the season.

Elsewhere, Victor Rask and Jeff Skinner scored and Cam Ward stopped 32 of 33 shots as Carolina snapped Nashville’s four-game winning streak with a 2-1 win.

Marc-Andre Fleury notched his league-leading fifth shutout of the season while Evgeni Malkin scored the only goal as Pittsburgh beat New Jersey 1-0.

Vancouver center Henrik Sedin set up his twin brother, left winger Daniel, for two power-play goals in a 4-3 win over Washington.
