Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne stopped 31 shots for his first shutout of the season and the Predators spoiled the Winnipeg Jets’ home opener with a 2-0 road victory.

Rinne looked determined to return to form as one of the league’s premier puck-stoppers as he helped the Predators remain unbeaten after four games.

Elsewhere, Henrik Zetterberg had four assists and Johan Franzen scored two goals as the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-1.

The Vancouver Canucks maintained their perfect start to the season and inflicted another defeat on the reeling Edmonton Oilers – a 2-0 loss – who lost their fifth straight in their worst start to a season.

The Columbus Blue Jackets took a three-goal lead but had to hold on to beat the visiting Calgary Flames 3-2.

Goalie Roberto Luongo made 26 saves to lead the Florida Panthers to 1-0 road win over the Buffalo Sabres.

Anaheim right winger Corey Perry pushed the game-winning goal past Darcy Kuemper with 8:22 remaining as the Ducks beat the Minnesota Wild 2-1.
