Bournemouth fans pay for rivals’ FA Cup trip

Burton fans arriving in Bournemouth for the FA Cup had their entire trip paid for by supporters of the home club.

Such is the enduring popularity of the world’s oldest football cup competition – the FA Cup – there is nothing unusual about fans travelling hundreds of kilometres to watch their team play.

Burton’s FA Cup match at Bournemouth was postponed at late notice due to a waterlogged pitch. But out of soggy misery came an idea from fan David Whitehead – to pay for burton fans to come back.

The idea turned into reality as these Burton fans arriving on the south coast from the English Midlands had their entire trip paid for by supporters of the home club Bournemouth.
