Perm could get Gullit sacked

Ruud Gullit has been told he has to win his next match in charge of Chechen side Terek Grozny or lose his job.

The team’s president said on Tuesday that the former World Player of the Year was more interested in bars and discos than getting to grips with Terek Grozny’s poor position in the Russian Premier League.

The leader of Russia’s Islamic Chechnya region, Ramzan Kadyrov, is the president of Terek, who languish 14th in the 16-team league.
 
“Today we must acknowledge that Gullit has not justified the hopes of the club’s leadership,” a statement on the club’s website said.

It added that the Dutchman refused to accept any blame for poor performances and would be fired if they did not win on Tuesday at Ankar Perm.

Instead of rolling up his sleeves and working to improve the team’s league position, Gullit was “thinking about bars and discotheques,” it added.

“Considering all this, Ramzan Kadyrov is presenting Ruud Gullit with the task of bringing back three points from Perm. In the event of the opposite outcome, Gullit will be dismissed from the position of head coach.”

When Gullit was signed to an 18-month contract at the start of the year, Kadyrov said his task was to help the club qualify for European competition at the end of the 2011-2012 season.

The statement said that the team, who finished 12th last year, had “never looked so hopeless” as it did in Gullit’s 12 games in charge.
