Downturn puts brakes on F1 hopes

The global economic crisis has driven millions of people out of their jobs, and bankrupted some of the biggest financial institutions.

Its ripples have also been felt in the world of sport with Formula 1 with three major teams withdrawing ahead of next year’s season.

That has created the opportunity for smaller teams to join, but as Al Jazeera’s Azhar Sukri reports they are still going to have to pay a hefty price to stay in the running.
