Brazil champion Sao Paulo has signed striker Adriano on a six-month loan from Inter Milan.

Adriano will play for Sao Paulo in the Brazilian championship and Copa Libertadores, Latin America’s premier club championship.

Financial details of the loan, which runs through June 30, 2008, were not immediately available.

“I am very happy with this agreement,” said Adriano, who will be introduced to Sao Paulo fans on Friday.

“It will be an honor to help the team conquer titles. I will work hard for this goal and to return to the national team.”

Adriano arrived in Brazil last month to undergo physical training and counselling with Sao Paulo.

At the time he acknowledged he is going through a difficult time but rejected accusations and rumors about drinking problems.

Adriano has played sparingly for Inter Milan since 2006, when his dad passed away and he was accused of having an excessive night life.

He was a starter on the Brazil squad that was eliminated by France in the quarterfinals of the World Cup in Germany, but has been called only once by coach Dunga since then.
