Madrid: a city divided by football

Al Jazeera looks at the rivalry between Atletico and Real as they prepare for the Champions League semi-finals.

In Madrid you support either Atletico or Real. The team you choose defines you.

Both sides are in action in the Champions League semi-finals with Atletico Madrid taking on Chelsea, and Real Madrid playing against Bayern Munich.

Real Madrid is one of the most successful prize-winning clubs of this century and their emblem stands for power and wealth. Atletico, on the other hand, are the club of the working class and have only made it to the European Cup final once.

Should we see an all-Spanish Champions League final on May 24, it will be one of the most exciting days in Madrid's history.
