Bolton striker Nicolas Anelka says he’s hopeful for a move to Chelsea.

Anelka is Bolton’s leading scorer this season with 10 goals in the Premier League, and has been linked with a move to several clubs during January’s transfer window.

“The presidents are talking. I hope it will happen (and), most of all, that I am eligible for the Champions League,” the France forward said.

“But as long as the contract has not been signed and I have not been presented to the press with my new shirt, nothing is finalised.”

However, Bolton manager Gary Megson downplayed Anelka’s comments, saying no transfer talks were under way.

“In terms of Chelsea making contact, I am not aware of that or any other club making contact,” Megson said.

“We will just keep going and try to deal with the speculation that surrounds him.”

A player of many clubs, Anelka has previously played for English clubs Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City, while also playing his trade at French club PSG, Spanish giant Real Madrid and Turkish side Fenerbache.
