Preview: White House advisor defends US drone programme
Ben Rhodes says the use of drones “is a far more targeted way of taking out terrorists leaders”
In this preview, Mehdi Hasan, presses US Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes on President Obama’s controversial drone programme.
Rhodes tells Hasan, “there are individuals who are targeted because of their role in Al-Qaeda and their plot against the United States but we’ve said that when there’s a continued and imminent threat to the United States we’ll take action”.
He also defends the administration’s policy saying, the use of drones “is a far more targeted way of taking out terrorist leaders…than invading and occupying a country like Iraq”.
