Disunity among the Democrats

Hillary Clinton secures her party’s nomination, but not everyone is happy.

Putting “the biggest crack in that glass ceiling yet” Hillary Clinton made history by accepting the Democratic Party’s nomination to be its presidential candidate. Her announcement via satellite roused the already jubilant crowd inside the convention centre, who were waving signs and chanting her name.

But outside the convention centre, it was another story. Bernie Sanders supporters had already walked out, many booing when Clinton clinched the nomination. Thousands protested, and smaller groups faced off with police in more unruly encounters. Many are motivated by the email scandal that they say is evidence of a rigged system.

Today we’ll look at friction within the Democratic Party and whether Hillary Clinton is the right person, with the right policies, for the job. Join the conversation at 19:30 GMT.
