Internet activists question Modi-Zuckerberg alliance
Indian prime minister’s visit to Facebook headquarters leaves some sceptical of commitment to net neutrality.
As Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed India’s internet future on Sunday many activists were not impressed. On the same day as their meeting, Zuckerberg and Modi changed their Facebook profile pictures to promote Modi’s Digital India tech investment initiative, a plan with ties to Facebook’s Internet.org project. In India, Internet.org is expected to provide free internet via India-based Reliance Communications.
