Indigenous activists in Mexico fight highway construction on ‘sacred land’
Community in Xochicuautla continue ongoing battle to preserve native land.
Activists in Mexico expressed outrage this week after construction trucks, guarded by police, entered an indigenous community to work on a planned highway set to pass through the area of San Francisco Xochicuautla. Opponents of the project reportedly cut a water line to prevent building from taking place.
