Middle school students protest reported firing of teachers for teaching black history

Howard University Middle School is part of historically black US university.

On Monday, middle school students in the US capital of Washington, DC protested the reported firing of their teachers for adding black history to their social studies curriculum.

The students attend Howard University Middle School of Mathematics and Science, known as MS2, which is affiliated with an historically black university. The school made local headlines last week when parents said the principal had fired three teachers for supplementing their curriculum with additional African-American history.

MS2’s administration has not yet released a comment on the allegations.
