Colombians online are angered by the government-initiated suspension of peace talks with the FARC rebels. Many took to social media to call for the government to renew dialogue, citing the need for a ceasefire to end the five decades of armed conflict in the country.

The calls come after President Juan Manuel Santos suspended the two-year-old negotiations due to the disappearance of General Ruben Dario Alzate and two civilians. The government accuses FARC of abducting the general, while the rebel group has not commented on the allegations.

Colombians online responded with #TreguaYa ("truce now" or "truce already") and #CeseBilateralYa ("bilateral ceasefire already") to call for the dialogue to continue:
