Outrage towards a Brazilian adaptation of the popular US show 'Sex and the City' resulted in campaigns to get the programme cancelled for racist stereotypes. The series called "Sexo e as Negas", features four black women as its protagonists. In Brazilian Portuguese, "negas" is a colloquial term for black women, but is sometimes used derogatorily.

Many viewers demanded the show's cancellation and for advertisers to stop sponsoring the series. The series' creator denied that the series was racist.
