Twitter users search for #NewRedskinsName
Shortly after the Washington Redskins lost their team name patent, Twitter surged with preposterous new name suggestions.
Twitter users made #NewRedSkinsName and #RedSkinsNameChange a trending topic across the US just hours after news broke that the US Patent and Trademark office revoked the trademark protections for the Washington Redskins, calling the American football team name “disparaging to Native Americans”.
This isn’t the first time efforts were made to change the team’s name, and this recent ruling won’t force the team to drop its name any time soon. Nonetheless, Twitter users were eager to come up with their own suggestions.
