Police have declined to charge nearly 70 university students who were facing sedition charges in India after cheering for the Pakistani cricket team over India during a televised match. According to police, university students in the northern city of Meerut were accused of committing an “anti-national act” and disrupting campus. The students have also been suspended.

The hashtag #WeAreSeditious emerged online with many discussing the actions of the students and the university’s response.
