Anti-fracking protests in Canada turn violent
Activists allegedly struck by a vehicle during a demonstration in New Brunswick.

Two people have been injured during an anti-fracking demonstration on a highway in New Brunswick, Canada, after allegedly being hit by a vehicle. The incident occurred during Monday protests for what activists called a nationwide emergency day of action in solidarity with demonstrations by the Elsipogtog First Nation. The Elsipogtog activists are protesting against the exploration of shale gas on their land, a process they say will threaten their water resources.
Const. Damien Theriault of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) told Canada.com that the RCMP did not have information about the alleged incident, however, Canada Broadcasting Corporation’s Karin Reid-LeBlanc tweeted out confirmation.
