In addition to feeling the absence of Earth's simplest pleasures, the mental stress of being cramped into such a small space, with no privacy, and extreme isolation can take its toll.

On Thursday’s Riz Khan, we speak with author, Mary Roach, whose latest book Packing for Mars: The Curious Science of Life in the Void, looks at the challenges of living in space and what this could mean to future missions to Mars.
