Multiple Grammy Award winning musician Yo-Yo Ma joins the Riz Khan show on Monday.

Credited by many with popularising the cello, today he plays with his own Silk Road Ensemble, which has the goal of bringing together musicians from diverse countries all of which are historically linked via the Silk Road.

In his career spanning over forty years, Yo-Yo Ma has popularised classical music, performing in concerts all over the world and collaborating with mainstream artists like Sting.

In the past ten years he has been featured in several Hollywood film soundtracks such as Seven Years in Tibet, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and 2005's Memoirs of a Geisha.
The Silk Route Project is a not-for-profit organization that promotes collaboration among artists and institutions, promoting multicultural artistic exchange, and studying the ebb and flow of ideas among different cultures along the Silk Road.

The Project is an umbrella organisation for a number of artistic, cultural and educational programmes.
