If The Lights Go Out

Katie Melua is a real-life 21st century fairytale. As a young child in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia she carried buckets of water up five flights of stairs.

Today, as one of Britain’s top selling female artists, she carries gold and platinum album sales along with a slew of awards. And while her path to fame may have been a road less traveled, it was one inspired by such classic artists as Queen, Eva Cassidy and Bob Dylan.

On today’s Riz Khan show, Katie Melua joins the program to discuss her unique sound, her status as a European sensation and the latest release off her best-selling Pictures album is called If the Lights Go Out.
