Muslim activist Lord Zazir Ahmed and Mohammed Khaliel join the “Riz Khan” show in London to discuss the issue of standards for mosques in the UK.

Later this year British mosques will be expected to modernise and do far more to outlaw extremist Islamic teaching under new rules drawn up by Muslim leaders. For the first time, a code of standards will allow Britain’s 1500 mosques and their imams to be supervised and regulated.

The code, drawn up by members of the four main Muslim organisations in the UK, will offer women more protection and draw up rules to fight extremism. The move comes against the backdrop of growing concerns about extremist ideology being propagated within mosques.
