Anand Naidoo fills in for Riz Khan tonight.

Two years ago when the G8 gathered in Gleneagles Scotland, Africa was the only continent not on track to meet ANY of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015.

And now, after pledging to offer 100% debt relief and increase aid to poor countries by $50bn, things are not much different.  Global aid organizations claim the G8’s 2005 pledges amount to nothing more than broken promises while development experts note that aid to Africa is stagnant.

As African leaders prepare to meet their G8 counterparts in Germany, Anand Naidoo speaks with Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade about debt relief, aid, broken promises and what lies ahead for Africa.
