The speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, ripped up a copy of President Donald Trump's State of the Union address.

But the SOTU was full of unexpected moments.

Several Democrats refused to attend the address and Democratic women wore white to send a message of solidarity and mark the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote.

The president also introduced Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido as a surprise guest.
