Nearly five years and a quarter of a million lives have been lost over the course of the Syrian war.
But now a resolution may, at last, be in view.
The UN Security Council voted unanimously to back a resolution which outlines the framework for a political transition over the next year and a half.
But it leaves some major questions unanswered, including what happens to Syria's president.
