Can talks bring peace to Libya?

Hopes are running high as the UN sponsors talks in Geneva to end turmoil in Libya.

UN negotiations in Geneva are aimed at reaching a deal to form a unity government in Libya. Currently, there are two rival governments, and many armed groups fighting each other for power.

The European Union has described the Geneva talks as the last chance to put an end to the crisis in Libya.

But is a deal even possible in the absence of some main players in Libya? And what are the scenarios if they fail?
