Can a UN resolution end Israeli occupation?
Palestinians have yet again approached the United Nations to help in their statehood quest.
A draft resolution to put an end to Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories has been submitted to the UN Security Council.
Israeli Minister for Foreign Affairs, Avigdor Lieberman, has described the move as “gimmick”. For his part, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said nothing can be done without Israel’s consent.
So, will the UN be of any use to the Palestinians? And would they have to go back to the negotiating table?
