European nations are deeply divided over whether to recognise Kosovo's declaration of independence. Britain, France and Germany suggest they will, but Spain has called the move illegal.
Meanwhile, Russia says the declaration is null and void, and Serbia - which views the loss of the province as the loss of its heartland - has branded the breakaway a criminal act.
