Displaced women in Darfur

The US and UK are ratcheting up the pressure on Sudan over Darfur.

George Bush, the US president, has warned the Sudanese president that he has one last chance to stop the violence.

Meanwhile Tony Blair, the British prime minister, is rallying support for sanctions.

For its part, Khartoum in a seemingly pre-emptive move, signed an agreement with rebels in the area to speed up a peace plan there.

Can Sudan make peace on its own in Darfur? Will United Nations sanctions and troops help? Or will they make the situation even worse?
