9/11 Kids: 20 years in the US

What became of the pupils President Bush was with when he was informed of the 9/11 attacks?

President George W Bush was in a classroom on September 11, 2001, when the White House chief of staff whispered, “A second plane hit the second tower. America is under attack.”

The president was reading to students at the Emma E Booker Elementary School in Florida to promote his new education programme, “No Child Left Behind”. The day was supposed to be about the future of those kids, but it was suddenly eclipsed by the attacks on the World Trade Center.

So, what became of the children who witnessed the president’s reaction? Their stories provide a unique prism on the United States post-9/11.
