Five lawyers support each other as they navigate the fast-changing, hostile world of immigration law in the US.
Filmmaker: Priscilla Gonzalez Sainz
Contending with constant attacks on immigrants in the United States, many lawyers on the front lines feel burned out and disillusioned. Five Mexican American lawyers set up an informal support group to keep each other going as they help their clients obtain safety and legal status.
Status Pending shows how changes in the interpretation of law and legal procedures directly affect immigrants, especially undocumented, endangering their safety and prolonging family separation. After several years in the trenches, even the most dedicated come to question whether they can continue in this heartbreaking line of work.
