War: Coming Home

We take a look at how the US invasion of Iraq continues to plague the nation years on.

This film was originally broadcast on Al Jazeera English in the run-up to the US elections in 2008.

The US invasion of Iraq has not only changed the political landscape of America but it has also affected the psyche of an entire nation. Soldiers maimed for life, torture and other war crimes, an invasion based on a faulty premise.

Before the invasion, 70 percent of Americans supported the war, today nearly 70 percent oppose it. No one has felt this shift more deeply, more gravely than the soldiers sent to fight a war the majority of the American people now rejects.

The marines of Fox Company’s Second Battalion were among the first troops to march into Iraq in 2003.

Filmmaker Mike Seray, a former marine, has followed the men of this unit over several tours of duty. Their personal stories offer a vivid account of how this war is affecting the US and possibly the outcome of a bitterly contested US presidential campaign.
