How do we stop online violence against women?

The Stream discusses new forms of gender-based violence in a digital age.

On Monday, November 25 at 19:30 GMT:
November 25 marks the observance of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Gender-based violence persists around the world despite a 1994 United Nations resolution aimed at tackling the problem. And, rights groups say, new forms of violence are now surfacing.

Activists say women from all walks of life are being subjected to “online” violence in the form of revenge porn, threats, cyberstalking and blackmail. They say that, just because it’s virtual, that doesn’t mean it is any less real, and that the impact of such violence can be just as long term. In some cases, it may even lead to physical violence and/or murder.

On this episode of The Stream, ask a panel of experts what can be done.
