Asian-Americans: Silent no more
A police officer’s conviction turns into a rare racial flashpoint for Asian-Americans.
On Tuesday, March 1 at 19:30 GMT:
When Peter Liang became the first New York police officer convicted of an on-duty killing in a decade, rare protests erupted across the US and online in China. The unarmed black man he shot, Akai Gurley, is among the victims driving the #BlackLivesMatter movement against racism in the justice system. But Liang’s supporters say he is a victim of racism, too. On Tuesday, we’ll ask why some Asian-Americans are breaking expectations to demand #Justice4Liang, while others are #Asians4BlackLives.
