Corruption scandal grips Guatemala

As controversy reaches closer to the presidential palace, protesters call for President Molina’s exit.

Guatemala is in political crisis. As more details of fraud and corruption emerge, the government of President Otto Perez Molina falls further into turmoil. Five cabinet ministers and several government officials have left their posts, the Supreme Court has taken the first step in allowing impeachment proceedings against the president, and his former Vice President Roxana Baldetti will stand trial. In the streets, and online, protesters continue to call for Molina’s resignation, but he is firm that he will not step down. As tensions continue to mount ahead of the September general elections, what lies ahead for Guatemala? We discuss at 19:30 GMT.
