In Panama City, potholes tweet witty complaints for you

Devices planted in potholes send messages to government every time someone drives over.

Ever shouted in frustration after accidentally driving over a pothole? Well you’re no longer alone, at least if you live in Panama City. Devices set up inside several potholes around the city automatically tweet the Ministry of Public Works’ Twitter account every time a car runs over them.

Panamanian news show “Telemetro Reporta” teamed up with ad agency P4 Ogilvy & Mather to create the social media campaign.

You can see all the complaints, sometimes witty, from the tweeting potholes at @Elhuecotwitero, which means “The Tweeting Pothole” in Spanish. Most of their tweets include #CallesDignas or “Decent Streets” to demand the government take action.
