
Backlash as Kenya stops Somali money transfers
Move comes after the Garissa massacre by al-Shabab.
Kenya is receiving criticism for a recent decision to suspend the licenses of 13 Somali money-transfer services in the wake of al-Shabab’s attack on Garissa University College.
Somalia’s central bank governor responded by warning the move could hurt Somalis living in Kenya, who rely on money sent from abroad.
