
#PeaceMarch: South Africans rally against attacks on foreigners
Thousands join Durban demonstration countering xenophobia.
Responding to mob attacks on foreign nationals, South Africans held a “Peace March” in the coastal city of Durban on Thursday.
At least five people were killed in anti-immigrant attacks in the city over the past week. South African aid group Gift of the Givers said more than 2,000 foreigners have sought shelter from the violence in refugee camps in Durban. Organisers of Thursday’s march intended to send a message of solidarity with those targeted.
