Stephen Harper says face veil culture is “anti-women”.

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper defended his attempts at banning women from wearing a face veil during Canadian citizenship ceremonies, saying the veil was “rooted in a culture that is anti-women”. Liberal Party leader Justin Trudeau accused the prime minister of stoking anti-Muslim sentiment. Harper responded by saying that “almost all Canadians oppose the wearing of face coverings during citizenship ceremonies”.
