Venezuelans say ‘Maduro murderer of students’ after teen killed during anti-government protests

Twitter users point to new policy allowing security to use deadly force.

Twitter users in Venezuela are blaming President Nicolas Maduro and a new policy aimed at controlling protests for the killing of a 14-year-old boy during a demonstration in San Cristobal Tuesday.

Kluiver Roa was killed in clashes between police and demonstrators during anti-government protests. On Tuesday afternoon, a police officer was arrested after confessing to shooting the teen with a rubber-coated bullet. Ruling party officials also condemned the shooting.
