Australians vow to #BoycottBali if Indonesia executes two citizens over drug charges

Twitter users from the two countries argue over looming executions.

The imminent executions of two Australian citizens over drug charges in Indonesia has created a Twitter spat between the two countries.

Australians Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran were sentenced to death for drug smuggling and leading the so-called “Bali Nine” drug ring in 2005. The Australian government is now making “11th-hour pleas” to stop the looming executions.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott warned on Sunday that Australia would take measures against Indonesia if the executions take place. Indonesian authorities confirmed on Monday that the pair will be transferred to their execution site sometime this week.

To protest the executions, there has been a growing campaign to boycott travel to Bali, Indonesia, a popular holiday destination for Australians.
