Fans pledge to donate Lego bricks after Chinese artist’s order is refused.


Supporters of the dissident Chinese artist Ai Weiwei are vowing to send him Lego bricks after his recent order was denied by the Danish toy maker.

According to a post on his Instagram account, Ai was told by the company that they could not approve the use of Legos “for political works.” He has previously used the toy bricks to create portraits of famous political prisoners. 

Using #LegosForWeiwei, fans pledged to send their bricks to the artist. Ai welcomed the donations, saying he will set up collection points in different cities.
